UNIT 16 QUALITY ASSURANCE AND CONTROL
Unit Summary
The successful outcome of a project or contract requires the appropriate application of quality assurance issues to all elements of the work. A manager in construction must know the requirements for quality and standards and how that quality is delivered on any project.
Aims
The unit aims to enable the candidate to understand how the required quality standards for the work are applied and maintained.
Outcomes
On successful completion of the unit the candidate will be able to:
- comprehend the meaning of quality
- identify the requirements for quality and standards as defined by the contract documents
- examine the systems and control measures which are used to provide and maintain quality standards
- ensure that operations on and off site are carried out to meet the stated quality and standards
- demonstrate how the work is organised to give the necessary conditions for productive work
Assessment
The outcome of this report will be assessed on the production of a written report of 1500 words in a word-processed form.
The report should give examples of good and bad quality practices and cover:-
- Quality requirements of contracts.
- The quality systems used.
- How quality standards are maintained on site.
- How the work is organised to ensure productivity.
The report should include relevant organisational data and examples of good and bad practice based on the candidate’s experience.
