School of setting out is the construction school of the Finchley college. We are based in London and now offer city & Guilds courses in construction at levels 1, 3 and 4. Students can study for the whole qualification or single Units only which include, Site surveying procedures, estimating and tendering, finance in construction, materials management, budgeting and forecasting and many more.

The surveying procedures and setting unit of Advanced professional Certificate in Construction is our most popular course and is ideal for those who are changing career into construction or have already obtained HND or Bsc degree in any subject but lack practical understanding of how to use surveying instruments in real life construction sites and wish to work as a building site engineer or setting out engineer.

Setting out and Surveying unit is now offered in one week full time starting on the first Monday of each month as well as on Saturday mornings and Monday evenings.

 

If you have not been successful in obtaining a place at a university you could study our Higher Professional Diploma in construction and then transfer to a university to obtain your BSc degree.

We are the only College in UK that provides courses full time, part time, weekends and on evenings. We teach use of Surveying equipment including Total Stations such as Sokkia and Leica, reading and understanding construction drawings as well as mathematics of coordinate geometry, establishing control networks on construction sites.
